What is Urgent Care?

Urgent care is a system of healthcare that is defined by its walk-in service and intimate setting. Urgent care essentially bridges the gap between the local physician’s office and the emergency room. Like an emergency room, urgent care clinics don’t require patients to schedule an appointment. However, like a physician’s office, urgent care clinics provide more than just medical treatment, as they serve their local communities similarly to a primary care physician.

What differentiates urgent care clinics and the ER is the range of injuries or illnesses treated. While urgent care clinics do not treat life-threatening medical conditions, they still treat a wide array of injuries and illnesses, including:

  • Sprain/Strains
  • Cuts/Lacerations
  • Bruises
  • Joint Pain/Back Pain
  • Sports Injuries
  • Insect Bites/Stings
  • Rashes

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Allergies
  • Influenza/Cold
  • Strep Throat
  • Ear Infection
